The locations
Creative Wales has been a part of the Sex Education story since the beginning with our expert Wales Screen service on hand to help the production team find the most original locations.
Although Moordale High has a certain American feel, much of the filming across all seasons took place in South Wales, with the Wye Valley, Cwmcarn Forest and the Wye river providing the perfect backdrop.
One of the biggest changes to season 4 in terms of locations is the move from Moordale High [school hall scenes were formerly The Paget Rooms in Penarth] to swanky new Cavendish College, filmed at St Fagans Museum in Cardiff. The Duke of Beaufort Iron Bridge in Monmouth is also a different location to the first three seasons. Discover more about the exact locations across all the seasons of Sex Education here.
The decision by Eleven Film to base much of the filming for all four seasons in Wales has certainly helped transform Wales' reputation as a serious competitor in the screen industry. In the last ten years, productions have been flocking to Wales because of our stunning, varied landscapes and talented film crews.

Trainee Placements
Across the four seasons of Sex Education, 36 trainees were offered placements allowing local people to gain valuable experience in all sorts of departments from costume to set design.
On the first season Sex Education took on three graduate trainees who were placed in production, art and accounts departments as well as ten undergraduates that were given short term placements.
Season three offered placements for seven graduate trainees in roles including sound, make up and assistant director. Eight undergraduates were also given work experience placements on set.
The final season took on eight paid trainees and they were given placements in a variety of departments from costume to camera and location.
Many of these trainees have gone on to secure roles on other productions without having to leave Wales.
