Wales is increasingly recognised for producing high‑quality, culturally distinctive film and TV. Behind the camera, Welsh filmmakers supported by funding, partnerships and a growing network of production talent are driving a new wave of 'made in Wales' films that resonate with audiences at home and internationally.

From securing film funding and attracting distributors, to navigating international film festivals, the journey for Welsh filmmakers is complex, making targeted industry support essential.

At Creative Wales we work closely with partners including Ffilm Cymru Wales, S4C and BBC to strengthen the Welsh film industry. The funding programmes we support, such as the Feature Film Development Fund and the Welsh‑language development programme Sinema Cymru, help nurture talent, develop original stories and bring Welsh‑language content to the big screen.

Recent projects we've supported such as Mr Burton, Madfabulous, Effi o Blaenau and Lluest, is a great example of how this investment is helping Welsh stories reach global audiences.

With a run of BAFTA nominations for Welsh films, two major Welsh features hitting cinemas this summer, and About a Bell and Lluest recognised among Screen Daily’s “20 UK buzz titles” at Cannes 2026, there’s never been a better time to spotlight the films and filmmaking talent shaping Wales’ film industry.
