Who can apply?
This funding is aimed at Wales-based businesses developing content-based IP for commercial release. This round will support projects within TV, commercial animation, video games and immersive technology.
We want to provide financial support to the TV and commercial Animation sectors, to help indigenous production companies to fully develop projects and concepts, offering a greater chance of getting a project commissioned, greenlit and into production.
We also want to support the retention of IP by indigenous companies which, in turn, will enable further growth in the sector.
Types of previously-supported projects include the development of :
- an internationally distributed historical documentary
- a daytime prime-time factual format
- a pre-school animation series
- a scripted series.
We are particularly (but not exclusively) interested in unscripted development projects and entertainment formats in this round of funding.
The maximum amount available per project is £25,000.
In the Games and immersive technology sector, we want to provide financial support for the development of new IP in video games and immersive technology apps.
This will help businesses to develop concepts to a level where they can pitch these projects and secure commercial investment.
This will support the development and retention of IP by indigenous companies which, in turn, will enable further growth in the sector.
Types of previously supported projects include:
- a new video game slice
- an augmented reality application
- an immersive multiplayer VR game with e-sports integration for events and entertainment.
The maximum amount available per project is £35,000.
In both available funding streams, applicants do not have to demonstrate match funding, but doing so will strengthen the application.
If your project is more focused on R&D as opposed to the creation of new content & IP, you may be interested in the Media Cymru Development Fund which opens on the 24th July, which is also supported by Creative Wales. Media Cymru are looking for innovation-driven projects across Wales that demonstrate clear potential for a tangible product, experience or service in the media sector.
